Signs Your Electric Furnace Needs To Be Repaired

By Friends of Real MommaNovember 6, 20171 Comment2 Mins Read

Your furnace is an essential part of your home during the cold winter months. You need to make sure that your electric furnace is ready to heat you during the cold times of the year so that you don't have to rely on costly space heaters. Here are just a few signs that your electric furnace needs to be repaired.

There is no heat coming through the vents

Aside from trying to save money by shutting vents in unused rooms, mechanical failure of your electric furnace will result in cold air being pushed through your vents when you turn the temperature up on your thermostat. This problem is usually caused by a broken belt. It is important to make sure that you contact a professional who will be able to properly and safely install a new belt in your furnace.

Your heater seems to be running nonstop

When the blower on your hater is running nonstop, you are overdue for a repair. Not only is this an issue mechanically but it can also be very costly on your utility bill. The easy fix for this is switching your heater to the off position. However, there are times where this won't help to solve the problem. Even when this does fix the problem, it is a temporary fix. You need to find a professional who can diagnose the problem and fix it with a long-term solution.

Your furnace is turning on and off on its own

There is nothing worse than your heater turning off when it is very cold outside and your heater turning on when it is triple digits in the summer. If you are able to, try to lubricate your blower. If this doesn't solve the problem, you need to hire a professional who can fix this problem for you.

These are just a few of the many signs that your electric furnace may need to be repaired. Make sure that you take the time needed in order to find the right professional that will be able to fix your furnace right the first time. Getting electric furnace repair service right when you first discover the problem will keep you from having to purchase an entirely new furnace.
