Sweet and Spicy Nuts and Bolts Recipe

I’m in love with Good Host Iced Tea, I enjoy a glass any time of the year, it brings a smile to my face as I reminisce on memories.  With the holiday season just around the corner, I’ve been planning and making my to-do lists, one of which is baking and snacks.  I was impressed with the iced tea marinade I used on chicken and thought maybe I’d bring iced tea into one of my favorite holiday snacks – Nuts and Bolts.

Sweet and Spicy Nuts and Bolts Recipe

This recipe was created using the things that I love with a little spicy flare.  The combination of sriracha and Good Host Lemon Iced Tea is on point.  It might even be a little too addicting if that’s possible.

Sweet and Spicy Nuts and Bolts Ingredients

Sweet and Spicy Nuts and Bolts Ingredients

    • 3 cups Shreddies
    • 2 cups Cheerios
    • 2 cups pretzel sticks
    • ⅔ cup peanuts
    • ½ cup pecans
    • ⅓ cup corn nuts
    • ½ cup butter
    • ¼ cup Good Host Lemon Iced Tea Powder
    • ½ tsp sriracha powder
    • ¾ cup wasabi peas (or more if you like a spicy surprise)

Sweet and Spicy Nuts and Bolts Instructions

First – Melt butter in a small pot over medium heat, stirring constantly.  I like to bring it to just a boil; this will take 5-6 minutes.  Once melted remove from heat and add in Good Host Iced Tea Powder and sriracha.

Pour sweet and spicy mixture over nuts and bolts

Next – Combine all snack mix ingredients except the wasabi peas, I did it right on my sheet pan.  Slowly pour the butter mixture on top and stir to coat evenly.

Last – Bake at 225° F for 20 minutes, remove from oven, and let cool.  Once cooled top with wasabi peas and enjoy!  You can store the nuts and bolts in a resealable plastic bag (once cooled) for about a week.

Spicy Iced Tea Nuts and Bolts

The Sweet and Spicy Nuts and Bolts recipe makes about 9 cups of snack mix.  I’ve found the perfect snack is a glass of water and half a cup full of nuts and bolts.  You’ll have 18-20 servings of snack mix with ½ cup portion size.

The flavor of the Good Host Iced Tea mix in this recipe is amazing and made with real tea leaves.  Plus they’ve reduced the sugar by 25%, and it has no artificial sweeteners.  The combination of the sweetness and spicy sriracha is fantastic in this snack mix; you’ll also notice hints of citrus.  It is the perfect nuts and bolts combination for the holidays or any time of year, and it takes half an hour to whip up a batch so you can have it ready as the company arrives.
