When we started planning our trip to Puerto Vallarta, we knew we wanted a new and authentic Mexican experience. What better way to get that then stay in the heart of the hotel zone, after all, it is the romantic zone for a reason. We found amazing restaurants, cobblestone streets, cafes, art galleries, boutiques, street food and the pier only steps away from Playa Los Arcos Hotel.

Our experience at Playa Los Arcos Hotel was amazing the staff was polite and spoke English very well. The rooms were average – we had two beds, a small sitting area, large bathroom and small patio to enjoy. In all honestly we didn't spend much time in our rooms except to sleep so we had more than enough room to relax and enjoy some quiet family time.

The All Inclusive package was perfect for us as it was easy for the kids to get the foods they like and try new things at the same time. There was fresh fruit at every meal with a selection of Mexican dishes as well as “American” with an amazing omelette bar at breakfast all served as a simple buffet in Mi Pueblito Restaurant. If you stay 7 nights you can enjoy two specialty gourmet dinners in the speciality restaurants – we weren't able to check them out but I'm sure they were just as delicious at the buffet. If you weren't in the mood for a sit-down buffet meal they had styrofoam containers readily available. If you're thirsty during the day Tialoc bar beverage service was open 9 am – 11 pm.

For entertainment they had nightly live music in the restaurant as well as the following shows:
- Monday – Texmex Show
- Wednesday – International Show
- Thursday – Regional Show
- Saturday – Mexican Fiesta Show

The beach was just steps away from the pool and with the All Inclusive package you receive:
- chairs and umbrellas
- towel service
- recreational activities
If you need a little extra relaxation during the trip the Holistic Spa offered great prices and looked extremely inviting. I wish I had a few extra hours so I could of used their services. If you had any questions or needed assistance while at Playa Los Arcos the Concierge service was accommodating and willing to go above and beyond from 10 am – 6 pm they offered everything from tour reservations to Yogoulisous ice cream specials!

What we liked most about the hotel was we felt safe, the kids were able to find foods they enjoyed and it was clean. Even though we experienced rain during the duration of our stay we were never bored and had plenty of activities to do under cover! And when I say rain I mean water up to our ankles as we walked the streets, it was not typical for March. We did manage to enjoy the pool between rain storms, but be aware that the pool with the waterfall is for adults only not kids – we learned that the hard way.
If you want a real Mexican experience and to understand the heart of Puerto Vallarta you'll love Playa Los Arcos. You can roam the streets, try authentic food carts and restaurants, shop the little boutiques and view many cultural buildings and sculptures. I want to go back already and soak up the sun, take more pictures and enjoy the relaxing lifestyle they offer. My photos do not do the hotel justice since the sun decided not to cooperate.
