I hope you enjoyed my first Wine Wednesday review – Bitch so I'm bringing you another one that I hope you will enjoy just as much. This pick came from our recent trip to Las Vegas and sampling the wine of the month selections that had been shipped over the last few months. You'll be pleasantly surprised by the 2010 Toscano Vineyards Artigiani Chianti.
Toscano Vineyards – 2010 Artigiani Chianti ~ Wine Wednesday
Wine: Artigiani Chianti (2010)
Variety: a blend of 80% Sangiovese (san-jo-veh-zeh) and 20% Canaiolo
From: Tuscany
So what is Artigiani Chianti? Toscano Vineyards is located in the soul of the Italian wine region. To bear the name Chianti the red wine must be produced in the region and contain 80% Sangiovese grapes. This red wine has high acidity and light body characteristics which makes it perfect for someone who isn't into the bold red flavor. This wine is best if enjoyed after aging for 2-3 years.
The 2010 Toscano Vineyards Artigiani Chianti begins with a pleasant aroma of cherry with a hint of spice. When gently tipping the glass to the side and taking a good look at the wine it boasts a clear consistency that is visible in the refractions it leaves. Now for taste! It has a medium body which is nice and smooth with a hint of berry and oak followed by a little spice.
Now for food pairing – perfect with a light white meat dish like pork or chicken and is delicious with a tomato pasta dish!
This wine is perfect for a dinner party and at the mid-price range, your guests will love it! I have added this to my list for gift giving as well as dinner parties because of the medium body it is bound to be a favorite of many.
If you’re going to drink, drink responsibly!
