Every year we look forward to putting away our summer toys and taking out the winter ones! I love the change in seasons it is like a fresh start full of new ways to have fun.
One thing we love to do during the winter is snow days! We load up the truck and head out for a day of fun sledding, laughing, and warming up around a campfire. We've learned a few tricks along the way on how to make the most out of our snow days together!
Our Top 5 Must-Haves for A Snow Day
Warm clothes, even though the temperature might be above freezing and the sun is shining it is always a good idea to bundle up. Don't forget about a base layer, sweat pants, and shirt, wool socks, winter boots, snow pants, and jacket plus gloves and something to cover your ears. Having a few extra warm clothes in the car is always great as a backup because sometimes accidents happen or the weather is cooler than you originally thought.
Hydration, this was something we always forgot because you don't think of drinking cold water while you're out playing in the snow. Thank again! All that running and sliding can make you dehydrated so pack a few extra bottles or even better have your backpack full and ready to go!
Food! Just like beverages you work up an appetite pretty quickly. If you're planning on a campfire bring some hot dogs and even some marshmallows so everyone can take a break and relax. Packing a few snacks is always a good idea too because grabbing a couple of veggies before taking another run gets some nutrition into your hard-working body.
Don't forget about the delicate noses! Having a couple of travel packs of tissues within an arms reach is always a good idea. From runny noses to sneezes you'll want to have tissues around for the kids.
Smile and positive attitude, nobody wants a party pooper tagging along on a day of fun in the snow. A smile and willingness to hop on that toboggan and go for a run down the hill always makes for a better day.
Whatever I see fresh powder on the hill I know we'll be packing up and heading out for a snow day! There is no greater feeling than being a kid again and laughing until your stomach hurts and you start to cry because you're having so much fun. Pass the Puffs!
