If you've all been following along with me I talk about Frank (my hubby) being on shift work so its 3 days- 3 off- 3 nights – 3 off and repeat. Anyways we finally had the kids on a sleeping routine where they are in their own beds around 7ish and can pretty much take care of themselves while they go to sleep.
Well Dustin (almost 3) has decided that he is going to join in on the shift work schedule with his Dad and decided to go to sleep at 7:30 pm just to wake up at 10:30 and not go back to sleep until 4:30 am. Don't get me wrong he might of napped in there a few times because I was in and out of it, this Momma needs her sleep to function. He woke up at 8 am after being asleep for less than 4 hours. So my question is how the heck does a 3 year old do it and can I get some of whatever he's taking too?!
Just think of all the tasks I would get accomplished if I only needed a few hours of sleep every day. For me going to bed around 10 and waking up at 6 is barely enough. For my sanity and those around me I need a good ten hour sleep at night, call me selfish but you obviously haven't been around me then ;).
So back to the non-sleeping kids. When I woke up, if you can call it that, this morning I had to say I could understand the place where sleep deprived single parents come from and I honestly don't know how they can do it. For me I know there is an end in sight but I don't know what I would do if this was the same thing day after day. Do you just get used to it or do you learn to live as an insane, quick tempered person (like I am on no sleep) and try to find the calmness in the day to take a moment and relax. Either way I say Praise to the Single Parents who do this day in and day out!! Your kids are lucky to have you and if you have any pointers to send me I would be forever in your debt!
Have you joined me on Facebook yet?! You should!
