With Easter fast approaching I thought it would be fun to come up with some new treats for the kids that can help make too! I combined a few of the kids' favorite things to come up with these Peeps Pretzel Rods. I'm going to warn you though if the kids are helping this can get a little messy but what fun is having a clean kitchen! I found all the supplies at the dollar store which makes this recipe affordable and fun.
Peeps Pretzel Rods
The ingredients are really simple all you need is:
- 12 Peeps Bunnies
- 12 Pretzel Rods
- 4 oz White Chocolate Melting Chips
- Your favorite sprinkles
While you're at the dollar store to make cleanup a little easier grab some placemats or a plastic table cover, especially if you have younger kids. You'll be surprised at how far all these ingredients will spread with little helping hands. Paper plates are also a great thing to have on hand for easy clean up. Now onto the fun part – building the assembly line.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment or wax paper.
- Melt chocolate by microwaving for 45 seconds, stirring, and repeating until melted and smooth.
- Dip and or spoon pretzel rod to cover about 1/2 way in white chocolate.
4. Shake to allow excess to drip back into tray.
5. Sprinkle or roll with pastel decorations.
6. Place on prepared sheet to set.
7. When all pretzel rods are prepped place in the refrigerator for about 5 minutes.
8. Using a spoon, put a little melted chocolate on back of bunny and position on candy coated rod.
9. Return to refrigerator until set.
Even though there are a lot of steps the process is really simple once you get your assembly line set up and the finished products are so cute! The kids will love lending a hand and seeing their finished creations. The part I like the most is seeing the creativity and effort the kids put into making them. So make a mess, have fun, and don't eat too many before Easter.
