On our drive to Las Vegas we were busy looking at road signs and happened to see the one to Cheyenne, Wyoming! It was funny because my daughter, Cheyenne, thought that was the best sign she's ever seen and now we both want to visit! I did a little research and the town of Cheyenne is pretty amazing offering lots of family friendly events to the authentic western experience. I'm sharing a little about their big Frontier days coming up the middle of this month!
Frontier Days – Cheyenne Wyoming
Cheyenne Frontier Days, known as “the Daddy of ‘em All,” is the world’s largest outdoor rodeo and Western celebration, taking place July 18-27, 2014. The first Frontier Days was a cowboy roundup featuring bronco busting and steer roping contests; now, over 100 years later, it’s a 10-day festival of Western entertainment.
Some highlights include:
- Free pancake breakfasts
- Free parades
- Free Native American Village and Old Frontier Town, with storytellers, authentic dances, and special guest characters (like Buffalo Bill Cody and Lillie Langtry)
- Free Behind-the-Chutes tour – get a first-hand look at what goes on during the rodeo from behind the scenes, following the path of the bulls and broncs as the animals are rounded up.
- Nightly Carnival with rides, games and more
- Chuckwagon cookoff
- Headlining concerts like Florida Georgia Line, Tim McGraw, Kid Rock and more
- The USAF Thunderbirds
And that's just a few things they offer a lot more so if you're a big rodeo fan you won't want to miss the opportunity to visit Cheyenne during Frontier Days. Stay tuned I have a lot more fun things to see and do in Cheyenne, Wyoming!
Keep your eyes peeled we're doing a lot of adventuring this summer and are sharing it all with you!
