Every little boy loves playing a hero. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to watch Barney Fire House I am pretty sure I could have the lead role in it now. Since I’ve had a son, it is amazing to see the shift in thinking between the way that a girl sees a hero and a boy does.
To a girl, a hero is the Prince who saves her from the evil dragon. A boy, on the other hand, sees a hero in a policeman, fireman, or even a superhero. In our house, it has everything to do with firemen and saving people from burning buildings, driving the fire truck, and getting cats out of trees. I’m not sure if that happened because Frank is a firefighter or if it is just the world through three-year-old eyes.

Dustin has his fire truck that he drives around and extends the ladder at home to save the damsel in distress. Or he watches his show on TV and then has to “spray” water on everything to put the fire out. Doing his little jig to get the fire suit on is the cutest!
When Imaginext arrived in our house, we knew it was the perfect fit for Dustin. Not only is it interactive but he can also put out the fire and get called to a scene! You wouldn’t believe the delight in him when he first heard the call for fire on the main street! It is like he had become a hero himself and could respond with the urgency of being a real firefighter.
Although most of the entertainment is geared towards Dustin with this toy, his sister was more than happy to take part. Any interactive toy in our house that has both kids involved is always a plus. Cheyenne got right in there and was helping him fight fires, and crime, and responding to calls. They got along so well that I almost forgot they were even home!
Giving a little boy the chance to be a hero is priceless and letting him do it on his own in an unexpected manner adds to it. With Imaginext, they have thought of everything. Who doesn’t want to save the day from a bank robber?
