Summer makes me think of holidays and travelling. There’s nothing more exciting than packing your bags for your next adventure. Whether you go alone or with your friends or family, I’ve come up with a few suggestions for your holiday plans.
Get Closer To The Locals
I think when many people go on holiday, they stick to sitting around the pool. Don’t get me wrong, it can be a lot of fun to put your feet up, especially when the weather is good! If you’re in an entirely new place, however, I think you should dedicate some time to getting to know the locals.
It’s much easier to do this if you try to learn a little of the local language. You don’t have to become fluent overnight, but bring a phrase book and try your best. The locals will be much more open to you if they know you’re trying!
I also think you should always try at least one new food. Even if you’re not travelling far, get outside of your comfort zone and take the plunge. If you’re a fussy eater, you don’t have to go too far. Pick something that sounds similar to a meal you’d cook at home at first. The more relaxed you feel, the more adventurous you’ll be with the dishes you choose. Plus, you never know, you may bring back your new favourite recipe.
Include Animals In Your Plans
The great thing about travelling is all the new wildlife you’ll get to experience. I love to travel with my family, so seeing the kids getting to play with nature is rewarding. There are so many experiences nature can provide.
If you love the sea, I’d include something like a dive or a visit to swim with dolphins. You’ll experience the water in a whole different way to just dipping your toes at the beach. I recently had the most wonderful experience with my children meeting dolphins and sea lions. I can’t recommend it enough!
If you love the outdoors, travel by horseback for a different experience. Horse equipment is easy to come by and depending on where you ride, it will be provided to you. Horses can make you feel just that little bit closer to nature. If where you’re holidaying is rural and out in the open, they’ll help you to get around in a special way.
I also love the idea of visiting an exotic farm or animal sanctuary and spending a day helping out. If you’re in another country, it’s the perfect way to get to know completely new wildlife.
Letting Go
Letting go is probably the one thing everyone should always be doing on their holidays. Holidays are a great time to relax and leave the stresses of day-to-day life behind. You don’t have to go far or spend a lot of money, but you do have to enjoy it. It can be difficult to not get a stressed if you’re travelling with a large group (family or friends) or young children. Proper planning will make it much easier to get there with no problems. Make sure if there are many of you going, everyone is on the same page before you leave. Never travel in a bad mood and think of it as a time to let go and have fun! I hope you enjoy your summer journeys.
