When I saw the new video Charmin Asks: When Is Physical Contact NOT Okay? It reminded me of my recent solo vacation. Being in public and meeting new people always comes with awkward moments, especially when people are over friendly and love hugging. Me, I really enjoy my personal space and hate being caught in those awkward handshake – turned hug – I don't really know you pat on the back kind of moments. Don't get me wrong not all interactions with people are like that, those are just the ones that stand out.
So if you see me looking all awkward, that's just me being me!

I love this video! I think it is the look after the pat on the back in the bathroom that speaks to me.
Physical contact is such a touchy subject especially when it comes to bathrooms and germs. Back to my trip; we've all had experiences with germs, people and using a public restrooms – some good and some bad.
What I always wonder is why people don't wash their hands.
You've just spent two minutes squatting over the toilet to come out of the stall to wash your hands and then it happens…We've all been in a public washroom and someone leaves a stall and walks right out the door. Can you say gross, would people do that at home? Probably not!
Then my brain starts working overtime and overanalyzing the situation. Did someone touch the door with their grubby hands, what about the water pitcher in the lobby or worst of all shake my hand. Ahh! All I can think of are those germs spreading everywhere and then for a moment or two I'm stuck in an OCD germ cycle.
How do I get over it? Other than screaming at people to wash their hands or not touch me I remember to relax, breathe and keep going with my day because in all honesty we can't control everyone. What I can do is go back to my room and wash my hands twenty times to make sure they're clean. That's normal right?!
What are your awkward bathroom moments?
