Did you know today is National Grandparents' Day?
National Grandparents' Day is a secular holiday celebrated since 1978 in the United States and officially recognized in a number of countries on various days of the year, either as one holiday or sometimes as a separate Grandmothers' Day and Grandfathers' Day. One celebrates both paternal and maternal grandparents. ~ wikipedia
I came across this cute poem and just had to share it!
Reading that poem brought so many memories back to when I was young and the summers I would spend with my Grandparents. It truly was something I took for granted and I am so happy I had the chance to live with them again when I went to college. Back in the day when things were so much simpler and they would serve us pop and chips for breakfast just because they could!
I have to say I am honestly looking forward to being a grandparent so I can be the one who gives the crying baby with the poopy diaper back to the parents and gets the toddler all hyped up before bed. Oh and the presents I will buy! Finger paints are acceptable for a three years old birthday right? Maybe being a Grandparent is payback to your kids for all the rough patches they take you through!
All I know is I am thankful for the time I've had with my Grandparents and I wouldn't replace it with anything.
Have you celebrated your Grandparent today, after all it is National Grandparent's Day!
