Hunting for a New Family Home? How to Get Your Current Home Market-Ready

If you are planning to sell your house sometime soon, then you need to make serious efforts to get it market-ready. You may think it is common sense, but be careful that you don’t overlook any important details. You want to eliminate as many flaws as you can while adding as many enhancements as possible. To help you get it right, use the following guide to get your home market-ready.

    1. Consider Renovations

If you have enough time, one of the things you have to do is make as many renovations as possible. Two rooms where you can reap great rewards with renovations are the kitchen and the bathroom. Making improvements to these rooms will give you a substantial increase in the market value of your home. Opening up the floor plan by knocking out a few walls will give you a modern look. Look for ways to modernize your home with renovations, and you will improve your chances of making a quick sale.

    2. Became a Neat Freak

There is nothing like clutter in a home to make it look unattractive to buyers. When you are getting ready to put your house on the market, you need to go on a cleaning spree. Since you will soon be moving, it is the perfect time to get rid of the clutter that you have accumulated over the years. You should go through you home and make three categories as you clean it. One category is for things you need, another is for the things you want to sell and the final is for things you want to give away or recycle. Remember that you get tax deductions for all the things you give away. Push yourself to sell or give away as many things as you can to make your home as clutter-free as possible.

    3. Depersonalize Your Home

When your home is being shown, you want it to be as depersonalized as possible. This allows potential buyers to imagine themselves in your home. Seeing your family photographs up on the wall makes this hard. You should take down these family photographs, knickknacks, and other personal touches that will disrupt people from imagining themselves in the house. If you have a hard time with this step, just think of it as getting a head start on packing.

    4. Make Sure Nothing Is Broken

Even if you don’t make substantial renovations to your home, you need to make sure you fix anything that is broken before you put it on the market. Take care of all the leaky faucets. Patch any holes in the walls. Make sure all your doors and drawers open and close properly. Making these types of minor repairs is a crucial step to getting your home market-ready.

    5. Give Your Home Curb Appeal

One of the most important things to do before putting your home on the market is to improve its curb appeal. Boosting the curb appeal of your house is not hard. Do some simple landscaping to give it a clean look. Repaint it to make it look fresh. Don’t forget to add some nice exterior lighting to boost your home’s curb appeal both day and night.

You will find that getting your home market-ready can be quite enjoyable. Keep in mind that every effort you make to improve your home’s marketability will help raise the amount of money you make when you sell it. Don’t cut corners. Follow the five tips above to ensure your home is ready to sell for maximum value.
