Twins are on the way, which means double the fun, right?!
It also means double the prep and double the stock. I’m sure that one of the first thoughts you had when you found out you were having twins was “What do I need? How much do I need?” Preparing for a new baby can feel overwhelming, but preparing for two can feel downright impossible.
Whoa, mama. Deep breath. Here are five of our must-have items to include in your twins’ nursery.
1. The Right Feeding Supplies
After diapers, making sure you have the right feeding supplies on hand is going to make a huge difference for you, your babies, your partner, your caregivers, everyone. Keeping feeding supplies in the nursery is going to make a huge difference.
Every twin mom’s feeding situation is going to be different. Whether you want to breastfeed, pump and bottle feed, use formula, or a combination of them all, there are a few supplies you will want to consider.
For breastfeeding your twins, consider getting an extra-large cover in case you want privacy while breastfeeding both of your babies while you’re out and about. My mother affectionately calls these “hooter hiders.”
If you’re planning on pumping, a dual electric pump is going to be your new best friend. It will be worth it to get a breast pump that’s a bit more discreet and mobile, that way you can tackle things on your to-do list and tend to the babies while you pump.
While the bottles you use will depend on your baby’s personal preferences, find one that is made for relieving gas and encouraging burps.
2. Personalized Wall Art
Maybe one of the most exciting parts of having twins is planning out how you’re going to decorate the nursery.
One piece of decor that we recommend is some personalized wall art. If you already know what you’re going to name your babies you can order it ahead of time, or you can wait until after they’re born so you can be sure.
3. A High-Quality Sound Machine
It’s likely that your babies are going to share a room (they might even share a crib for a period of time!). With this in mind, you’ll want to invest in a high-quality sound machine. This will work wonders for helping your twins to sleep soundly, even if their partner in crime starts fussing a bit in their sleep.
4. Plenty of Matching Outfits
What’s cuter than matching outfits for your twins?
Nothing. There is nothing cuter. You’ve arrived.
You are going to be so happy to have pictures of your little ones in matching outfits and onesies to look back on once they are old enough to choose their own clothes.
5. An Extra Large Play Mat
Your little ones can start doing tummy time right away, and soon, they’ll be rolling over and holding toys. Make sure you have an extra-large play mat to accommodate them during playtime.
So what are you waiting for? Time to start planning out all the items you’ll be adding to your twins’ nursery!
