You and your significant other likely have some favorite activities you like to do together. However, it can be easy to get into a groove and forget to try new things. Finding new ways to focus on getting closer with your significant other is an excellent way to spend a weekend. There are unlimited potential options for weekend activities, but here are four you may want to try.
Take a Staycation
A “staycation” simply means exploring your own town the way a tourist would. Take time to do the cheesy touristy things that you may have been putting off because you’re a hip local. You can search on things like “best restaurant” or “best things to do in X city” and find some really cool things that might have been right around the corner all along.
Spend Time Outside
Let’s face it—we all love to stay in and snuggle up on the couch with a good movie. Going outside is a great way to get out of your element and do some exploring together. Make an adventure out of it by jumping in the car without a plan and just see where the day takes you. Time in nature and getting some sunlight has been shown to be directly linked to a happiness boost. Why not take advantage of it? If you’re like most people, you likely spend your days indoors at work. Getting outside is a great way to be creative and get the exercise that boosts endorphins.
Order off the Menu for Each Other
If you’re like most couples, you likely have your favorite places to dine out that you frequent. A really fun way to get to have fun with your significant other is to choose a brand new restaurant and order a full meal with three courses for the other person. Choose the appetizer, entrée, dessert, and drink of choice for each other. You’ll be surprised at the conversation level it sparks up. You might even see if you can guess what your partner orders for you. It’s always fun to choose a crazy menu item or funky cocktail to start a great conversation. Try an upscale restaurant like Z Prime Steakhouse.
Plan a Lazy Day
This doesn’t mean to simply be lazy. Plan an entire day or half day where the two of you do all your favorite “lazy” things. We all have things that we do on rainy days. Make a checklist of all the ways you and your significant other can just truly veg out together. Make your favorite downtime meals and watch your favorite tacky television shows.
These are just a few examples of fun weekend activities that can help you become closer to your significant other. No matter what you decide to do, the most important thing is that you are making getting closer a priority. Relationships naturally have ebb and flow to them. Take advantage of some fun new ways to get even closer this weekend!
