Us moms are busy ladies and we have a lot on our plate. Some of us are working out of the home, from home, homeschooling children, shuttling kids to and from sports, cooking meals and taking care of the house. We have a lot of responsibilities and sometimes it seems like our life really isn't about us. There are times when we lose focus of we are as a person. When this happens it is time to step back and take a little time for ourselves.
It is so easy to get caught up being a Mom and taking care of the family that we just pass ourselves by. I have a few suggestions that you can do NOW to start taking care of you and taking time for Mom!
Have a Spa Day
We might not always have the time or money to go to a spa but that doesn't mean you can't have a spa day. Create a spa day at home! Have your husband or friend entertain the kids while you run a bubble bath, give yourself a pedicure or whatever it might be. The point is to spend some time relaxing.
I managed to do this the other day and even managed to read some of my magazine that's been sitting on the coffee table for almost a month! I have to say I was pretty proud of myself to actually do this.
Take 30 Minutes
Make it a point to take 30 minutes out of your day, just for you. You can take a nap, read a book, garden or anything else you find relaxing. This is your time to do something you enjoy.
I find the easiest way to do this is to get up early, that way I am guaranteed a few quiet moments by myself.
Exercise
This doesn't have to be a full-blown workout at the gym (unless you want it to be). However, taking a short walk around the neighborhood gives you time to think, relax and just be you. The fresh air can also help. I know that getting out and feeling the sun on my skin and the fresh smell of fall in the air is a nice break from my responsibilities for even a few moments.
Journal
Keeping a journal is a great way to gather your thoughts. It is always nice to read the previous weeks entries and reflect on things and make changes in your life.
Do you make time just for you? There are a ton of benefits to doing it! I know that I enjoy even 10 quiet minutes to myself in the morning, it helps me get prepared for the day and start with the right attitude.
