People always wonder what I do all day and now the secret is out…I'm having lunch at Wendy's with my blogging BFF Kyla from Mommy's Weird! The funny thing is we live 20 minutes apart but have none of the same friends (and we live in a small community) but have a lot in common. I'm thinking we should start a vlog series The Secret Life of Blogging Wives but we might be the only ones who watch, lol.
The Secret Life of Blogging Wives – Having Lunch At Wendy's
I'll be the first to admit it I need to lose weight – about 20 pounds to be exact (but who's counting) so when I can go to a quick service restaurant with a girlfriend and grab a chef inspired salad I am one happy Momma! And I don't get to go out often to somewhere that I choose so this was a treat! Did I mention the bold flavor and vibrant color of the salads and they includes some of my favorite ingredients like cashews and edamame! My lunch date just keeps on getting better.
So I walk into Wendy's with Kyla and I see the salads all nicely pictured on the display board and I knew I was going to have to make a tough decision. With the three new mouth-watering options – Asian Cashew Chicken Salad, BBQ Ranch Chicken Salad and Taco Supremo Salad. How do you choose?! Seriously I wanted them ALL.
Fun Fact: Wendy's is the first restaurant that brought the salad bar to quick service restaurants more than 30 years ago!
When I went up to order my Asian Chicken Salad I was pleasantly surprised when I was asked if I would like a half or full-sized portion. I don't think I've ever been to a restaurant and asked that question.
Then my order was up! All salads are prepared fresh in the restaurant every day and topped in store with 100% premium all white chicken breast grilled in store or chili when the customer orders it. I was pleasantly surprised again with fresh slices of tomatoes, cucumbers and red peppers.
Did you know: Wendy's has a salad spinner in every kitchen because they wash and hand-chop heads of romaine and iceberg every day and mix it with a triple-washed leafy spring mix made with 9 different greens?
Chef Inspired Salads at Wendy's
Asian Cashew Salad (I paired it with water for the perfect figure friendly meal)
- Spicy (just the way I like it, makes it even more delicious)
- Not your typical canned fruit and ginger dressing
- Uses on-trend ingredients such as fire-roasted edamame, fresh red peppers and cucumber, a lettuce blend of 11 different kind of green and a light Asian Chili Vinaigrette dressing
- Delicious and nutritious at only 370 calories!
BBQ Ranch Chicken (Kyla ordered and I it was pretty delicious with a more full body flavor)
- Savory backyard BBQ in a bowl
- Uses premium ingredients that you see around your frill, such as fire-roasted corn, freshly diced tomatoes, shredded sharp cheddar cheese, applewood smoked bacon and honey BBQ sauce (that is finger licking good)
- The salad is served with a BBQ Ranch dressing, made with real buttermilk, parmesan cheese, ancho chili peppers, honey and brown sugar
We put the talking into lunch! We seriously covered everything from kids to life, marriage and blogging. We even talked about motivating me to actually get dressed during the day. Long story short since I work from home and have the luxury of “lounging” while I work I tend to be lazy and wear pjs or sweats all day and really if I actually did something with myself I would feel a whole lot better. There is just something about getting up, getting dressed and putting on makeup that makes you feel good to be you! Its nice having a girlfriend you can trust with anything you say because you know it isn't coming back to get you.
