We had a blast last night coloring eggs and getting our Easter decorations out. It is fun to watch the kids every year and see the changes that have happened over the past year at each holiday.
For us Easter weekend means family fun. We are usually off work and can be together, go on adventures, or just hang out and have some fun. Not to mention the good food and laughs with visitors coming over. The kids most look forward to decorating eggs and the big Easter egg hunt we do on Sunday. It honestly has been the same for me since I can remember. In a way that is heartwarming to know I can pass the traditions from when I was a kid on to my children as they grow!
This year also marks the one year anniversary of my Grandma passing away. I honestly can't believe it has been a year already, wow the time sure does fly. I know that I will be holding her in my thoughts a little more this weekend than I do every day, it is my way of keeping her with me.
We are breaking our usual Easter turkey tradition and having brisket this year! Frank has been crazy about slow cooking it on the barbeque, it is one of his new favorite things to do. This will be his second attempt at it so hopefully it is even more delicious than the first time. I will probably be making cornbread muffins but he hasn't told me to yet so maybe I will just whip up a batch of homemade buns. Mmmm carbs! With attempting to train for a 5K I have been paying a little closer attention to what I'm eating and trying to cut back on some things like bread – which for me is next to impossible it is one of my favorite things to eat but I figure if I give up bread maybe I can have more cheese right?!
Here's to wishing you and yours a safe and happy Easter!! I hope you can create some memories and continue with your family traditions just like we do.
