I have a little secret to share that is going to change the way you watch Netflix…you can now download content to view offline! That's right you can take your favorite shows with you on your next vacation, or save your sanity and entertain the kids on long layovers or a weekend getaway.
This exciting new feature is included in all plans and available for phones and tablets on Android and iOS. What I like about the downloadable content is there are a ton of my favorite series and movies available and they're constantly adding more great content to view offline. There is great content available for Netflix viewers of all ages and you don't have to worry about internet access on your next vacation.
Before our flight to Las Vegas the kids both downloaded a few of their favorite titles including:
- Troll Hunters
- Victorious
- Hotel Transylvania
- The Deep
- Lego Ninjago
- Dr. Seuss' The Lorax
- iCarly
- Alvin and the Chipmunks
They both loved choosing their own shows to download and I was a fan of how it didn't cost anything extra. They were both content with watching their shows which made the time pass by a little quicker than usual. We also didn't have to worry about connecting to public wifi in the airports.
Now for the adults! I'm pleased that Netflix has a range of shows available for download so I can catch up on a few of my favorites while we are traveling as well. There is nothing worse than a delayed flight or long layover that you aren't prepared for.
A few of the titles we downloaded for offline viewing include:

- Sex and The City
- Suits
- Shadow Hunters
- The Good Wife
- Orange is the New Black
- That '70s Show
- The Ranch
- House of Cards
- Jurassic Park
As you can see a lot of the shows we downloaded were Netflix Originals, but who doesn't love them! It was nice to have a mix of short comedies, dramas and movies. I'm going to assume just like the regular content that the downloadable content varies by region.
The downloads do expire so always double check before leaving the house, but if you're always downloading new content for offline viewing you have nothing to worry about. Not sure what to download? As long as you have the latest version of Netflix installed on your Android or iOS device there is a whole section created for Available to Download. I hope you can find some Netflix content to download before your next vacation.
