One thing we try hard to do is carve out family time in our week, some weeks are easier than others but no matter how busy we are family comes first!
Summer was a blur with no schedules and lots of traveling and then September happened. Back to school for both kids, 4th grade and Kindergarten, which has brought earlier bedtimes and lots of new activities. We felt like the days were slipping by and we were falling into a routine that wasn't fun anymore. What did we do to change it? We brought back family movie nights (sometimes mornings or afternoons).
Nothing beats making a batch of popcorn, pulling out our favorite treats and curling up under a blanket to watch a movie together. We hope it becomes a tradition the kids can pass down to their kids too!
This past weekend we watched Hotel Transylvania on Netflix because we already had plans to go to theatre to watch #2! Truth bomb: I honestly forgot how expensive the movies were for myself and two kids to go and get a couple snacks it was a $60 day and we shared a popcorn and beverage. CRAZY! I'd rather stick to Netflix and making our own snacks plus I can pause the show and watch it in my pjs.
We're loving all the Disney releases on Netflix, especially some of my old favorites like:
- The Rescuers
- Freaky Friday
- Honey, I Shrunk the Kids
- Homeward Bound I and II
- D2: The MIghty Ducks
Need some other suggestions? We have lots and with Netflix you can always find something that everyone will love. Here are a few of our family picks:
- Hotel Transylvania
- The Cat In The Hat
- Christmas with the Kranks
- Scooby Doo
- Monster High
- The Pirates! Band of Misfits
- The Goonies
If you need more suggestions you can go to browse and click on Children & Family, there are a bunch of great suggestions that will keep your family movie night full of surprises!
If you're not into watching a whole movie the kids and I enjoy watching series together too! Our latest favorite is Once Upon a Time.
