3 Occupations Most at Risk for Explosion and Burn Accidents

While any job can pose a risk for injuries, some are truly dangerous and can cause explosions and burn accidents. Those workers who are in these industries need to be aware of the dangers and practice safety at all times. When injuries occur, workers need to learn about their options for pursuing worker's compensation benefits. Let's take a look at occupations most at risk for accidents.

Why Are Some Industries More Dangerous Than Others?

Risks on the job can be heightened in some industries. When power tools and equipment are used or there are chemicals involved, the risks of employee injuries go up dramatically. Proper employee training can help cut down on the risks of injury, but it will not stop the risks entirely.

Occupations Most at Risk for Accidents

Three Occupations Most at Risk for Explosion and Burns

Multiple jobs can lead to deadly accidents. When workers survive, they are often faced with ongoing trauma and chronic conditions that negatively affect their lives for many years to come. The following offers information on some of the top fields for explosions and burn accidents.

    Construction Workers

Construction work is one of the most dangerous jobs in the world. A construction worker must safely handle all types of equipment and tools. They use many kinds of chemicals and are exposed to electricity and combustible materials on a daily basis. Construction workers must practice on the job safety and ensure they are wearing protective gear at all times.

    Oil Rig Workers

Another highly dangerous job is that of an oil rig worker. Multiple accidents have occurred over the years, leading to catastrophic injuries and damages. When something goes wrong and an oil rig explodes, the devastation can be far-reaching. Workers who survive oil rig accidents can experience serious burns, electrocution, and internal injuries.

    Plant Workers

Some plants handle a wide array of dangerous chemicals. If chemicals and combustible materials are handled incorrectly, explosions and fires are more likely to occur. Even with proper protocol, chemicals can sometimes cause unexpected explosions. Plant workers are in danger every day on the job and can become seriously injured.

    Report the Accident Immediately

If a worker becomes injured on the job, they need to report it immediately to their employer. Most states require a worker to inform their employer as soon as possible. Waiting too long could result in a worker being denied benefits.

Once the employer has been informed of the injury, they are required to take action and notify their insurance company. The insurance company is given a specific time to approve or deny the claim. Should they deny the claim, the insurance company must provide a reason in writing.

What Should Injured Workers Do to Get Help?

Worker's compensation laws were put into place to help injured workers receive medical and wage replacement benefits. Unfortunately, injured workers are sometimes denied their benefits. When an unfair denial occurs, injured workers should explore their options by seeking help from a lawyer.

No worker should have to fight for their benefits alone. Unfortunately, employers and their insurance companies can sometimes treat injured workers unfairly. Thankfully, there are steps an injured worker can take after they have been denied. A lawyer becomes an advocate for their injured client and works to get the benefits that are owed to the injured worker.

Great post! I agree that the construction industry is one of the most dangerous industry there is for its workers. I believe that for handling construction equipment, you’d need a special training to be a certified operator. Like you said, tools and equipment should be handled with care to avoid accidents.
