Wow! I can't believe how fast summer has flown by. The kids and I made our trek down to Las Vegas on July 9th and just arrived home yesterday (Aug 10). We had an amazing time swimming in the pool, exploring new places and just having some good old family fun but its always nice to be back in my own bed. I do have to say that I learned a lot of things about myself this trip and am surprised that I survived on not much sleep. Now we're getting back to routine and settling in for the back to school season to begin!
Taking the Road Less Traveled
Its funny that after going down to Las Vegas for about five years now we've never driven and being 18 hours away you think we would of tried at least once. I can't believe I drove down with the kids and their dog solo, I honestly didn't think I would have the patience to do it BUT this year is all about no excuses so I put on my big girl panties and made it happen. When you put your mind to something and truly believe in yourself anything is possible. I might of been worn down, exhausted and rethinking my decision once we arrived but I wouldn't change it for anything.
I have to say that the drive back was pretty amazing we decided to take the path less travelled since Frank joined us for the drive home. Not having an actual plan on the drive back was hard for me because I have the need to be organized. It was hard putting my need for structure aside and having no cell service while still having fun and enjoying the trip. Tricky balance that was for me and probably the first time in almost 8 years that I've been able to do that. I guess we all get better with age right! Or maybe I was so exhausted I wasn't thinking straight. Whatever it was that happened I have to say the trip back was the best thing for our family. When you're stuck in a car for that long with the same people you learn a little something new about everyone AND we got to explore a ton of new places.
Stay tuned lots of fun posts to come from Las Vegas and our drive back through Utah, Wyoming, Idaho and Montana.
