I have a super simple recipe for you that is going to not only save you money but cut the sodium as well compared to buying baked beans in a can. You're going to love my slow cooker baked beans recipe! Best part is all you need is:
- a slow cooker
- measuring cups
- dried beans
- water
I've read a lot of debates on whether you should rinse or soak the dried beans before using them and to be honest I've tried it all different ways and haven't noticed a difference. I use the dried beans right out of the bag and just add water but you are more than welcome to try the other ways I just find this is the easiest and fastest way to do it.
Step 1 – Measure 2 cups of dried beans and place them in your Slow Cooker

I spray the pot only out of habit but have never tried it without non-stick cooking spray
Step 2 – Cover beans with water and turn it on! You're done in about 6-8 hours

I make sure the water is about an inch over the beans
When it is done cooking I put it in 1 and 2 cup containers to portion it properly and freeze them, once they're frozen I take it out of the containers and put it in one big container for easier keeping. This way you have to grab one of the portions and use it just like you would beans from the can!

You can add spices if you'd like but I usually end up adding them to meals I am making that already have spices to add flavor in the dishes.
