Weight Loss – Fact Vs. Fiction

There are so many blog posts and articles out there on weight loss methods, it can be super tricky to tell which ones are worth taking note of. Some of them might be quite harmful to your health! So, how are you supposed to figure out which ones you can completely disregard? You just need to educate yourself on the facts and fiction of weight loss. Here are some very common claims, and whether you should listen to them or not.

Snacking Is Bad For You – Fiction

Ok, so if you continually snack on chocolate bars or potato chips, you sure will put on some extra pounds fast! However, if you stick to healthy snacks, you shouldn’t worry too much about snacking in between meals. So don’t feel so guilty about eating if you feel hungry. You should always eat when you’re hungry! This is a much better method than starvation. If you starve your body, you will find that you are more likely to binge and your body will cling onto all of its fat. Sugar Is Very Unhealthy – Fact

Previously, it was believed that there was no harm in having a small amount of sugar in our diets. However, this has just recently been proved very wrong. Scientific studies into sugar’s effect on the body showed that it is far better for us to try and eliminate this food from our diet entirely. The studies also showed that sugars that were originally thought of as healthier than refined sugar (including agave syrup and honey) are a little better, as they don’t offer the body any important nutrients.

People who take daily vitamin supplements are supporting their diets and making them even healthier. But it isn't just vitamins that you should consider supplementing their diet with. Some people find that fat-burning supplements and appetite suppressants can help people reach their target weight goals quickly.

All Carbs Are Bad – Fiction

I’m sure you will have heard plenty about low-carb diets in the press. Lots of bloggers write about the various benefits of these kinds of diets, and even some dieticians support them. However, even if you do want to reduce your intake of carbohydrates, you shouldn’t cut them out of your diet completely. Whole-grain carbs are good for the body and provide it with the quick-release energy it needs for workouts and training. So try to eat whole-grain bread and pasta either before or after your workout. But always stay away from processed and refined white carbs.

As you can see, you shouldn’t believe everything that you read about dieting. But now that you have read this blog post, you should have a better idea of the different facts and fiction that are out there in the world of dieting and healthy eating!
