Tips on Keeping Your Pet Healthy

Just like having a kid your pet is part of your family and one of your new duties is to keep them in the best health you can.  I know I've learned a few things along the way now that we've had LouLou for 2.5 years I thought I could share a few of them.

Tips on Keeping Your Pet Healthy

As a pet parent, we need to know when to call our vet.  It is just like with a kid if your gut says you need to call then listen, don't just wait and see.  Depending on the situation you might be able to treat your pet at home or may need to bring them into the veterinarian clinic.

If you're still uncertain a few indicators you need to call the vet are:

  • If your pet has been in an accident or attacked (call the emergency line if necessary)
  • If your pet has ingested something poisonous or inedible
  • If your pet is in obvious distress
  • If your pet is not eating their food compared to their usual intake
  • If your pet is coughing, vomiting or having seizures

Prevention is the Key

We can take precautions and help prevent our pets from being hurt or getting sick.  If you treat your pet's health like you would your child's you are in the right frame of mind.

First up is food.  If you want your pet to live life to the fullest a balanced diet is of the upmost importance!  We like to feed LouLou Petcurean Pet Food.  The GO! recipes provide a complete, nutrient-packed food that puts more “life” into everyday dogs and cats.  The line includes high protein, lower carb recipes that help pets stay strong and fit; recipes formulated for pets with food sensitives; and specific dietary needs; and recipes that provide preventative care to keep cats and dogs healthy for life.  The line, which includes whole grain and grain free recipes, contains zero growth hormones, by-products or artificial preservatives.

Second is exercise.  A regular exercise routine helps strengthen your pet and prevent again sickness.

Third is cleanliness.  Clean your pet's crate or house regularly to get rid of disease-causing bacteria.  Give your pet a regular bath.  Fleas and ticks can give your pet extreme discomfort and they're often carriers of the disease.

Ask your veterinarian for additional health tips.  Just remember that when you have a question about your pet's health it is always better to be safe than sorry later.

  • I think the go sensitivity & shine, grain free with potato and free turkey would be great for my dogs :)

  • They suggest for Rocky that he should have NOW FRESH™
Red Meat Recipe for Adult Dogs because he's over 7 yrs. and he's active.

  • We have two large dogs, three cats, and two chinchillas ( and a fish). I would love to try the Grain Free Red Meat for our dogs.

  • I'd love Toby to try the NOW FRESH™
Grain Free Small Breed Puppy Recipe. She only weighs 5 lbs. so that would
    be perfect for her!

with my vet and discuss about the pet health regularly.

  • We recently moved and are looking for a new vet for our two dogs. They are healthy and happy, but I would suggest regular check ups even then. I like what you said about prevention, quality food and exercise is great.
