We've all read Routines Are A Lot of Work and Let's Get the Fire Back and now we're ready for the next step which we can all start today!! Making simple changes in our everyday lives that will help us create a routine that doesn't seem like work :).
We have to start with the question of WHO are we really competing with and WHY do we need this, want that, or have to have? When really we should be in a competition with ourselves – that is an earlier version of ourselves – we choose who we want to be so why not be ourselves?! Why not go into every day with the attitude that today is the day I am going to break my own personal records and be better than I was yesterday or a week ago, a year ago, five years ago. When I realized that living FOR myself and the choices I'm making towards being a better me only starts with being ok with where I am at it opened up a whole new world of possibilites. We can do anything we want to do as long as we decide to take the first step.
STEP 1 – Be in the here and now, don't always be looking forward to tomorrow, make the best of the time you have today. Appreciate and be grateful for you, the people in your life, the good times and the bad.
When we take the time to realize all the great and wonderful things that are already happening in our lives it makes us appreciate them that much more. At the end of the day it isn't going to matter how many things we have or how much money is in our account it is the memories that we've made.
STEP 2 – Make sure your heart and mind are in the right place and start allowing yourself to serve you!
This one is pretty easy, start getting up 5 minutes early every morning and just lay there and appreciate yourself! Allow yourself to love you and use the “flip the switch” technique by using a positive reinforcement statement to tell yourself you are WORTH it and you DESERVE all the good things in your life! For a little inspiration mine is: “look at how positive and in control of things I am, I’m empowering myself and others to exceed their goals and overcome challenges, I deserve this!” And remember to take a few minutes for yourself during the day to be your own best friend!
STEP 3 – Do something every day that stretches your limits – ask for help, purchase something for yourself, help someone, give something away, dress up, plan your day, take time for you, start a meal plan – if it makes your stomach churn you're getting out of your comfort zone
The only way for us to challenge ourselves and become the person we want to be is to take the first step! Do something that is not like you but you've always wanted to do – this might of been covered in step 2 by just appreciating yourself and getting up 5 minutes early! Whatever you do just make sure it is out of the normal routine!
STEP 4 – Get an accountability group or partner that you can share with, make sure they will help by being a positive reinforcement that will help you acknowledge the lesson, smile, and try again!
One of the easiest ways to move forward is to be honest and to allow ourselves to ask for help or support. By sharing our goals with others it allows us to hold ourselves accountable and take those next steps to becoming who we want to be!
Decisions are being made right now, the question you have to ask is am I making them for myself or am I letting others make them for me?
Good luck and I’m here if you want to share or get some ideas. Love yourself today! xo
