I’m always looking for new treats to make with the kids so when I saw these cute Rice Krispie pumpkins I knew we had to create our own recipe.  I’ve made this recipe simple so the kids can create them with a little assistance when using the stovetop.

If you have a Rice Krispie square recipe you love feel free to use that and just add the food coloring and get creative.  To make this recipe budget-friendly pick up the ingredients at your local dollar store.

    Rice Krispie Pumpkins Ingredients

    • 6 Cups Rice Cereal
    • ¼ cup butter
    • 1 ½ cups marshmallows (I use mini marshmallows)
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla
    • Rolos Chocolate Candy
    • M&M’s
    • Yellow Food Coloring
    • Red Food Coloring

    Rice Krispie Pumpkins Directions

    1. Heat butter on medium heat, and all of the marshmallows. Stir marshmallows and butter non-stop until marshmallows are fully melted.

    2. Remove from heat. Add vanilla, four drops of yellow food coloring, and two drops of red.

    3. Pour the butter mixture into a large bowl that contains your rice cereal, and stir to combine.

    4. Spray hands with non-stick spray, form rice mixture into balls with hands placing on a cookie sheet once formed.  Refrigerate for 15 minutes or more.

    5. Take formed balls from the refrigerator and gently press your thumb into the top of the ball, place Rolo on top of the balls, and place M&M’s accordingly.

    Rice Krispie Pumpkins Recipe

These Rice Krispie pumpkins would make a perfect treat for a Halloween party or for school.  I love how easy this recipe is to make and that the kids can do it on their own, a great way to keep them busy and learn a little math with measurements in the kitchen.
