Quick and Easy Homemade Hummus Recipe
Hummus Ingredients
- 1 – 15-oz. can chickpeas, rinsed and drained (reserving the aquafaba)
- 1-2 cloves minced garlic
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp ground flax seed
- Pinch of your favorite seasoning (mine is cayenne)
- Olive oil for drizzling

- Food processor – I love my Kitchenaid 9-cup Food Processor, it is great for small or large tasks and simple to use.
Quick and Easy Directions
- Drain the can of chickpeas, reserving the aquafaba for the recipe.
- Using food processor pulse chickpeas, then add in salt, lemon, garlic, olive oil, and ground flax. After thoroughly combining, slowly add the aquafava you set aside. Keep adding until you reach the desired consistency.
- Pour the finished hummus into your serving dish. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with your favorite seasoning! I love cayenne it gives the hummus a little kick but paprika, sundried tomatoes, and even nutritional yeast make great additions.

Homemade hummus is one of my favourite meals! I always used canned chickpeas in the past, though. Will try cooking them up from dry now that I know how 🙂
