Being a parent is a stressful life! From the hustle and bustle of the school run to the all-action meal prep at dinner time. It never stops.
That's without mentioning work! For parents, life is about two big careers.
Even though us parents are super busy 100% of the time, there's no time to take the foot off the pedal and that is especially the truth when it comes to the family home. Our homes need almost as much love, care, attention and affection as our families do! Almost.
The key to maintaining a family home comes with solving issues before they become serious problems that can weigh heavy on the mind, body and wallet of a busy parent such as yourself. Who needs the additional stress? It might seem like a hassle to deal with issues before they arise, but that hassle is multiplied by a thousand times when that small issue evolves into a serious problem.
Take the piping of your home for example. An underrated aspect to our homes, the pipes deliver water so me may bathe, cook, drink and clean! That's almost everything we do with our home! However, our pipes can be weakened by rust and environmental damage if we aren't careful and that, in the worst case scenario can toxify the water. If you see some serious problems with your pipes, call in the professionals who can get it fixed before it brings your home to a standstill. Another piping issue comes with weather. Cold snaps can lead to freezing in the pipes and this can cause the water inside to freeze. Obviously, this leads to a blockage and you can say goodbye to running water! It’s important to prevent frozen pipes with a pipe warmer, so make sure you are proactive when temperatures dip.
The roof of our homes are a line of defence and a symbol of safety and comfort for our families. It might be worth taking a look at the roof to examine and check for damaged shingles or leaks. If you act fast, it could just be a minor repair rather than a roof replacement! Gutters also defend your roof from water, so if they are clogged with leaves and other bits of falling garbage, clean it out so your room can breath a little.
The amount of cooking and cleaning we do can cause big problems with our drains – namely a sink. We've all got over-eager kids who love to ‘clean' their bowls by scooping rice and food down the drain before rinsing it off. Bless them. Our drains can be blocked so easily and this is a major headache and can lead to some stinky smells – but worry not, there's a simple fix. Pour a pot of boiling hot water down the offending drain, follow this up with baking soda and then some vinegar. You might remember from school science that this makes a reaction, so do cover the drain for twenty minutes. This should unclog all the rubbish from your drain.
The issues build up in the family home, but if we tackle them one-by-one we can solve them before they become big headaches, and as parents, we all needless headaches!
