I'm not going to lie I literally have no time to read between chasing the kids, making meals, laundry, paying bills and the list goes on and on and on.  Now that we've been back home for a couple weeks and getting back into routine I decided I'm starting a new habit and that's reading.  There is just something about letting your imagination loose and doing something for yourself that speaks to me.  So I made it a new routine to unplug and recharge by reading a book for at least 30 minutes a day and my first pick is [easyazon_link asin=”0385523394″ locale=”US” new_window=”default” nofollow=”default” tag=”reamom0b-20″ add_to_cart=”default” cloaking=”default” localization=”default” popups=”default”]Orange Is the New Black: My Year in a Women's Prison[/easyazon_link].  I figured after binge watching the seasons on Netflix I could at least indulge in the book.

What I thought of the book:

Great read.  You can easily hang out in the backyard while the kids run wild and indulge in a little reading.  The book flows nicely and keeps you interested every step of the way.

Comparing the book to the show:

Honestly there is more drama in the show, but that should be pretty obvious for ratings/viewers.  The book goes more in depth on her personal experience and surviving her sentence.  I like how it talks about your mindset and how she approaches every day and situation.  Prison is all about surviving and not being taken advantage of.  It definitely isn't as saucy as the show but in all honesty I liked it a lot more.

Would I recommend it?

Normally I'm more of a self-help book type person and don't have much time for that even but this book is great.  If you were going to prison it would give you great insight, if not well you'd learn what the life is like and what the system is all about.

For an easy read and a little entertainment I give the book a 10/10!
