Moving Madness: 5 Tips For Keeping Your Boxes Organinzed

Anyone who has moved homes is aware of the amount of work that is involved with relocating. Due to the number of personal belongings that need to be transported, it can be easy for everything to become cluttered. If you want to stay organized and make it easier to unpack, there are a few important tips to follow.

    Color Code the Boxes

Color code each room of your new home to determine where each box should be unpacked. You can designate the color blue for the bedroom or yellow for the bathroom. Use colored duct tape and permanent markers to clearly label everything and make it easy to determine where it should be unloaded in the new building. Communicate the color coding system with movers to ensure that the system is efficient.

Take Photos of the Contents of Each Box

After loading up each box, write down the contents on the side of each box or take a photo of everything that the box contains. You'll have an easier time finding what you need once you move into your new home and can avoid tossing random items into each container.

    Prioritize the Boxes

According to getorganizednow.com, you can use the A-B-C method to ensure that everything is packed based on how it is once you move in. Boxes that need to be unpacked immediately should be labeled “A” and boxes with holiday decorations or sports equipment can be labeled “C.”

    Pack Room By Room

Keep the contents of each room together by focusing on a particular area at a time instead of skipping around the home with your packing process. Avoid moving the boxes to other parts of the house to ensure that the boxes are grouped together in the moving truck.

Place Heavier Items on the Bottom

According to realsimple.com, it's important to distribute the weight evenly in each box by placing heavier items on the bottom and lighter products on the top. The method will prevent fragile items from breaking due to too much pressure that is applied.

When you want to stay organized and in control of your moving process, there are a few necessary steps to take to avoid creating a mess. With enough tips followed from beginning to end, you can avoid stress and quickly find what you need once you begin unpacking in your new home.
