The snow is melting, the sun is shining and the kids are on Spring Break which also means you might want to start doing some Spring cleaning! I like to start with the small tasks first to feel like I've actually accomplished something and then move on to the larger tasks once the momentum gets going. What's even better is if you can get the whole family involved you'll be done with your checklist in no time.
Make Spring Cleaning Simple
A few of the things I like to have on my Spring cleaning list are:
- wipe down walls
- clean window treatments – blinds, curtains, valances, etc
- pull out major appliances and clean the floor and walls
- rotate mattresses
- clean windows inside and out
- deep clean hardwood and tile floors
- check smoke alarms
- vacuum and shampoo rugs
- yard work – raking, getting flower beds ready, cleaning the driveway
All those tasks might seem like a lot to tackle and if you have your hands full already there are usually some great services you can look for in your community. One of my favorites is carpet cleaning because they always make it seem so simple and leave the rooms smelling fresh and the carpets refreshed. A lot of carpet cleaning services also do tile and grout, upholstery, and mattress cleaning so be sure to ask for package discounts!
While you are deep cleaning the home it is also the perfect time to declutter and get rid of things you aren't using anymore like old DVDs, clothes, appliances, and furniture. I am always surprised at how much stuff can accumulate in the home over just a couple of months and when you're doing the deep Spring cleaning it is the perfect time to donate those things or have a yard sale!
One thing I always want to do after a deep clean is look into house cleaning services. Once the house is clean from top to bottom I always want to keep it that way but find it difficult while trying to manage a home, kids, work and life. Just think of what a cleaner twice a month could help you with, oh the possibilities!
Whatever you have planned for spring cleaning try to be easy on yourself and celebrate in your accomplishments!
