Halloween Parties and Safety

Who doesn't love Halloween? I love seeing all the little kids in their adorable costumes. I enjoy the candy, parties, and everything else that comes along with Halloween. However, every year I get a little concerned about the safety of Halloween. With that said I'm still going to enjoy a great Halloween this year and I hope you do as well!

My favorite part – THE CANDY!  I mean the fun 😉 What is your favorite Halloween candy?

Halloween Parties and Safety

Costumes: We all know how expensive Halloween costumes can be! Take one look in a Halloween costume store and you will see that the prices of a simple costume are a little scary. Thankfully, there are several ways to save on Halloween costumes.

  • Look at your local thrift store
  • Make your own! Pinterest is a great resource for making your own costumes
  • Order online as this gives you the best resource for price-comparing
  • Borrow from a friend
  • Recycle an old costume

Halloween Parties: One of the best things about Halloween is hosting a Halloween party! Here are some tips for hosting a great Halloween party:

  • Invite people early! It seems like everyone has multiple Halloween parties to attend, so last-minute invites don't always work out well
  • Have lots of festive candy and food. Make candy/caramel-covered apples, finger foods, and even a punch with dry ice and ice cream
  • Make your party costume only, meaning no one without a costume is allowed. This is always a fun way to ensure everyone dresses up
  • Create a haunted house out of your garage or front yard

Safety: One big concern parents have about Halloween is safety. We all want to keep our children safe on Halloween, but how do we go about doing that?

  • Carry a flashlight and ensure you have some sort of bright clothing on, a piece of bright duct tape works if the costume is all black
  • Check the candy before eating it
  • Don't eat baked goods from strangers
  • Stick with neighborhoods you know
  • Stay in a group
  • Never let young children go out by themselves

How do you keep your family safe on Halloween?
