My daughter and I decided that we needed some beautiful glitter candle holders to have around for the holidays and found an easy way to make some. They look fabulous inside or out and are super easy to make. If you don't have any spare jars laying around you can always check your local thrift shop, dollar store or maybe down in Grandma's cellar!
DIY Glitter Candle Holders
Before I get into the details I just want to say this craft can be inexpensive, most of us have the supplies lying around especially if we craft with the kids. Don't focus too much on the quality of the products; I got most of the mine from Amazon (I've shared my affiliate links below) or the Dollar Store.
Supplies You Need:
- 3 Mason jars
- Elmer's School Glue
- Water
- Green, red and silver (or gold) glitter
- Paintbrush
- Battery operated tea lights or regular tealights if you prefer
Directions:
1) Make sure you mason jars are clean and dry before you start your project. Grab a paper cup or bowl and mix equal amounts of glue and water. Using a paint brush completely cover the inside of the mason jar. It will stay wet for quite a while, so speed is not important for this step.
2) While the glue is still wet sprinkle in plenty of glitter turning the jar as you sprinkle to make sure you cover the whole inside of the jar with glitter. Let your jars dry completely, overnight is probably enough but we let ours sit for two days before using.
3) Turn on your battery operated tealight and place inside. We used regular tealights as we already had them in the pantry, the glass does become warm from the burning flame so keep that in mind before touching t.
Stand back and look at your beautiful creation!
These make a great DIY gift from the kids because they're simple to make and the kids will love sharing their hard work with others. I use mine as our holiday centerpiece on the table now, they're also fun in the yard during the summer on the patio table.
