I can’t lie, the moment I realized I was an adult was when I got excited about a vacuum. I remember being frustrated with our built-in when we bought our first house and the hose tangling up, having to constantly change the heads for various surfaces and it being difficult to maneuver.
When we added pets to the mix I knew I had to purchase a vacuum with the suction power to battle the hair along with the everyday mess of a growing family, that’s when we bought our first handheld Dyson. After that I will never go back to anything else.
Bring Life Back to Your Carpets with the Dyson Ball Animal 2
I love my Dyson V8 Absolute it is simple to use daily and I can vacuum the whole house in one charge, I like the convenience it offers being cord-free. I was looking forward to putting the Dyson Ball Animal 2 to the test to see how it stood up to my daily use vacuum.
With three adults, two kids and two dogs we have a busy household and I have to vacuum almost daily. When considering another vacuum the features I look for are:
- Ease of use – I can easily go from hardwood to carpet and back to tile without having to change the head of the vacuum
- Easily vacuum fur and dander – I am the only one in the house with pet allergies so staying on top of shedding is a must
- Suction power – clean all the dirt, dust and allergens trapped in our carpets and area rugs
I love the power my V8 Absolute offers but I was astonished at the power the Dyson Ball Animal 2 has. The downside is that it was a little harder to use because of weight and the cord than the handheld but the suction power is unbeatable! I was able to easily switch from hardwood to carpet with the touch of a button to turn on the motorized brush bar that digs deep into the carpets to pick up ground in dirt and dust. Suction power wasn’t lost on different surfaces and it quickly picked up microscopic dust on the hardwood that you can only see when the sun shines just the right way through the window.
It is easy to see why the Dyson Ball Animal 2 have won the Parent Tested Parent Approved (PTPA) Seal of Approval. The seal means it has gone through rigorous testing by busy families to make sure it stands up to our everyday messes.
I love how the Dyson brought life back to our area rugs, they went from drab and worn out to fluffy and clean. I have to say I was grossed out by all the dirt and debris it sucked up that was lingering in our carpets.
Watching the canister fill up as you vacuum makes you wonder what else is hiding in the carpets, on your furniture and those hidden places around the house. Having a dust allergy the hygienic bin emptying is a bonus, you can easily empty the canister with the touch of a button and not have to actually touch the debris.
Did I mention that the vacuum comes with four additional tools valued at over $250? I haven’t even tried them out yet. The Dyson Ball Animal 2 surprised me and I can’t wait to share how the grooming tool, tangle-free turbine, articulating hard floor tool and instant release wand stand up to the test.
Have you tried a Dyson yet?

I have two Dysons and love them both, one’s a canister and the other a stick hand held vacuum. The later is wonderful for cleaning the stairs, the car and for super quick clean ups.
I have a regular Dyson ball vacuum and I love it, but would love the animal one someday since I have a lot of dog hair around the house. The suction really is great, when I first got it I couldn’t believe what it was pulling out of the carpets that my old vacuum had left behind.
what a beautiful machine, I don’t see how you couldn’t fall in love with it!!
We have 4 dogs and I would never again but any other vacuum but dyson. Mine is getting old now. I broke of the piece that holds the canister on so we have it a bungee cord to keep in on. Yes, we need a new Dyson and one day we will get another one 🙂
I should get myself one too.
I have a Dyson but not an animal model. I love my Dyson. But now I have a shedding dog and I am wondering if I should upgrade to the Animal model. Thanks for the info!
I have a big Labrador retriever and 2 cats! I need to upgrade to the animal model!
I need to get a new vacuum! Looks like a handy must-have for pet owners!
I would love to own a Dyson, hopefully some day.
Yes it’s amazing what can be lingering within the carpet after using a cheap vacuum. That’s why with Dyson it gives piece of mind that you’re actually capturing everything! Such a great feeling of true clean!
Great post! I like our family clean up time to be before 5 when my husband comes home from work. I think he deserves to come to a tidy house. I also like to follow a cleaning schedule. Monday is bathrooms & glass, Tues – vacuum, Wed – dust, etc. It is always good to read what works for others. As a family of 7, I am always looking to improve things around the house.
