My theme for the year is celebrate! Part of making that a reality is spending more time with my family and sharing some of our favorite things with each other. One way we are bringing this into our everyday lives is through reading, we all take turns reading a page or two from the book each night when we're all together. Something fun we decided to do was pick a favorite author and read a book or two that has been made into a movie.
If you're looking for a few literature inspired Netflix titles we have a few suggestions! For the big kids in the house:
And for the littles in the house:
- The Very Hungry Caterpillar
- The Red Shoes
- Harold and the Purple Crayon
- Stuart Little: The Animated Series
I can't count how many times we've read and watched The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Dustin also like to act the book out! It is fun seeing their imaginations open up to a whole new world. With Cheyenne we like talking about the differences in the book compared to the movie, you'd be surprised at what the kids notice. I find that sharing our love of books with the kids has grown their appreciation of reading. It really is a win-win for everyone! If you get a chance check out the Nicholas Sparks collection on Netflix including Safe Haven great for Valentines Day!!
What is your favorite book that hit the big screen?
