Baked Cinnamon-Sugar Mini Donut Recipe

One of my favorite things about fall is mini donuts at the fall fair!  This is how my baked cinnamon-sugar mini donut recipe was inspired.  They're so delicious they can't be good for you, I thought I'd come up with a recipe at home that is just as good but a little healthier.

Baked Cinnamon-Sugar Mini Donut Recipe

I've attempted making donuts at home before but I have to admit none have turned out this delicious.  This recipe will give you 24 mini donuts that are baked to perfection.  You can easily switch up the flavor by swapping out cinnamon for a favorite flavor like chai spice, pumpkin spice, or even chocolate.

Baked Donut Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • pinch salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Baked Donut Instructions

  1. Combine wet ingredients and sugar in a blender, using the mix setting to cream together
  2. Combine the remaining ingredients in a bowl, and gradually add to the wet ingredients using the mix function to combine
  3. Fill each silicone mini donut mold 3/4 full, the recipe makes 24 mini donuts
  4. Bake 12-15 minutes at 400°F, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean

Quick tip – you can either spoon batter into the mold or use a plastic sandwich bag with a corner snipped to pipe the batter.  I find this method is quicker, easier to portion, and doesn't leave a big mess.

While the donuts bake it is the perfect time to prepare the powdered cinnamon-sugar to toss the donuts in warm from the oven.

Cinnamon-Sugar Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Cinnamon-Sugar Directions

  1. Combine cinnamon and sugar in a food processor or coffee grinder
  2. Process the ingredients for 30 seconds to 1 minute, or until powdered sugar is to the consistency of your liking

After you remove the warm donuts from the oven turn them onto a cutting board in preparation for the final step.

The final step is as simple as shake and serve!

  1. Place warm mini donuts and powdered cinnamon sugar in a paper bag (or bowl) and shake until donuts are coated.
