For us summer is all about outdoor fun with the kids! As the days get longer and temperatures rise there is much fun to be had by all. I put together a fun list of ideas so we can all get outside for some fresh air fun. The best part is these activities have minimal cost involved and you can get most of the supplies at the dollar store or you might even have them on hand already. Just remember to sit back, relax, and enjoy the sun with the kids.

7 Fun Tips to Get the Kids Outdoors
Flat You – Lay on the sidewalk and take turns outlining each other. Decorate your flat selves by drawing clothing and funny faces. To add an educational twist, you can read the book Flat Stanley which is a favorite in our house.
Garden – Learn science, and responsibility and have fun all at the same time while planting and maintaining a garden. I have some great tips available on vegetable and herb gardening. I always like to start small and then get bigger as we go and learn from each season. The kids favorites are always peas, berries and carrots. Just having fun involving the kids and teaching them how to provide for themselves now will only make them smarter and healthier individuals in the future.
Hoola Hoops – Good old clean fun with a hoola-hoop! It might take a few go-arounds to get the hips working but once it starts spinning everyone will be laughing and having fun.
Hopscotch – Teach your kids how to play hopscotch. Let them draw their own hopscotch patterns. Have fun with them that's the best part of it all!
Bubbles – Bubbles are always a favorite. Take turns chasing and popping them. Blow bubbles with various bubble wands to see how their shapes and sizes differ.
Turn on the Sprinklers – I remember the days of running through the sprinkler and how much fun we had with a simple sprinkler and water. There is something special about running around in the front yard through the sprinklers, especially when the neighbor kids see you having fun and join in.
Sports – There is always fun to be had outdoors with baseball, hockey, basketball, bikes and the list goes on the possibilities are endless especially if you make up your own game or competition.
Playground: Head to your local playground and your kids are going to be busy for hours.
I hope these 6 summer fun tips get you and the kids outdoors! Remember to have fun with them and be a kid again!
