6 Tips For Shaving Time Off Of Your Move

Moving to a new home can be an exciting time, but the moving process also has the potential to lead to a lot of stress. You would be able to hire movers in an ideal world, but that is not an affordable option for most people. However, if you follow these six tips you can move yourself and limit your stress while also shaving time off of your move.

    Moving

Ask Friends of Family for Help

Moving by yourself could potentially take weeks, so you need to use your friends and family members for help. Each set of extra hands is going to drastically reduce your moving time. Assign each person to a specific task to stay organized and optimize your extra help. It is a good idea to have assignments listed out in advance so that everyone knows what they need to be doing ahead of time.

    Use a Utility Trailer

Pickup trucks are the ideal form of transportation while moving locally. Utility trailers, such as those from Hillsboro Industries, can help make your storage a lot more easily accessible and even give you a lot more space. A utility trailer is definitely a great way to haul all your large items without requiring multiple trips.

    Get Rid of Unwanted Items

There is no need to waste time moving something that you are never going to use in your new home. If you have not used something within the last year, then it is time to let it go. Yard sales and donations are the best way to reduce your clutter before moving.

    Pack Closet All at Once

Packing your clothes hanging in the closet is a big mistake. You can easily leave all of the clothes on their hangers and place them in plastic bag. This allows you to pack and unload the entire closet in a matter of seconds. It is a super, fast and easy way to move your clothes without breaking a sweat.

    Leave Dresser Drawers Intact

Just like you closest, there is no need to unload your dresser drawers before moving. Leaving everything in the dresser shortens your moving time while also giving you more room on the truck or utility trailer. If the dressers are too heavy to move while full, then you can still keep the drawers intact by covering them with plastic wrap.

    Label and Color Code Boxes

Unpacking everything in the new house can take up a large chunk of your moving time if you are not properly organized. Labeling and color coding the boxes ensures every box gets put in their proper location. This lets you to quickly unpack everything and get back to living your normal life.

Overall, moving does not have to be a stressful and time-consuming process. If you take the time to stay organized and follow these six tips, then you will have no problem drastically reducing the time you spend moving into your new house.
