That's right I'm reading again, lol.  Summer for me is a hard time to actually pick up a book and enjoy it so when I found Mommies' Priceless Moments filled with short hilarious and true stories I knew it fit just right!  I had the opportunity to interview the author, Amanda, and I have to tell you there is nothing that impresses me more than honesty.  Let's see what she has to say about the book!

Mommies' Priceless Moments Author Interview

Why did you write the book?

I like most new moms thought I was prepared for my son. I had read my share of baby bibles and manuals and took my share of birthing classes. But as soon as my son was born I was handed a plastic bottle for toilet paper and peed and puked up on more than the dirtiest toilets at Chevron. Women that were very excited for me during my pregnancy were now coming up to me with their horror stories of raw nipples and cradle cap. Other mom's horror became my laughter and my horror theirs. Being a mom is a sick cycle. There is nothing in the world that I love more than my children but man they can put you in some of the ugliest emotional chock holds ever. Talk about having an 8 pound 19 inch nothing bring you to your knees until you beg for mercy. Being a mother is wonderful about 80% of the time…my book talks about the ugly %20 no one wants to talk about in fear people might think they are a bad mom. Mommies' Priceless Moments captures the funny ugly truth of being a mom, no better words describes it then mommiespms.com

What is the best experience you've had with writing this book?

The connections with other mothers. The first story I got over my website was from a mom who told me that on the first night of going out after she had her son, she went dancing. To make a short story shorter this mom thought she was sweating while she was dancing, but after a little investigating she realized she was peeing while she was dancing. Kegel exercises became her top priority! Right then I knew this book was a good idea and all mothers have a story or two to share. It was also a great experience to receive the letter from Barnes & Noble stating that they would put my books in their store. Anything you would do different looking back?

Yes! I wish I could take back all the things I said I would or wouldn’t do with my son. I am stuff full with all the words I have had to eat over the past few years.
How do you juggle being a Mom and an author?

I write when my kids let me write. My kids definitely come first. Right now my son is trying to splash me while I type. I cannot tell you how many laptops have been destroyed in the process of creating my book. There is a large cemetery of computers under my bed, and yes it’s as scary as it sounds.

What is your #1 tip for new Mom's?

#1 tip for new moms buy my book Mommies' Priceless Moments(sorry I couldn’t resist) then head down to your local army navy surplus store and get all the survival equipment you can get your hands on, the next few years are going to be bumpy. But really, as long as you load up on napkins, diaper, and clothes you should be fine. I am not talking about diapers for the baby, everyone knows that. You’re going to need diapers for yourself. I hate to break it to you, but you’re going to be bleeding for about a month straight after birthing your little bundle of joy and the pads from the hospital are nothing less than a glorified diaper! You need napkins because newborns vomit more than they eat. It’s almost impossible to keep up with the laundry so I say forget the towels and HELLO NAPKINS! You’re going to want to grab enough towels for yourself because with breastfeeding comes leakage. Just expect it, be prepared with napkins or nursing pads and you won’t be caught looking like you just entered into a wet t-shirt contest.

Anything else you would like to add for all the Mommies out there?

Lastly clothes, if you are brave enough to attempt to leave your house in the first year bring a change of clothes for you and your baby. More than likely one of you will get pooped, peed, or vomited on and it’s best to not be stuck in clothes filled with your babies vomit. Because once you get a good whiff of it you are likely to vomit yourself, which will cause your husband to vomit, which will cause the nosey lady looking at you to vomit, and it’s just a domino effect from there.

What can I say about Mommies' Priceless Moments?

Whether you have experience as a Mom or you are new to the game this book is full of stories that are so true they couldn't even be made up!  It is like a support group in a book, no matter what kind of day you're having if you pick up this book and read a story or two you know you aren't the only one experiencing the craziness of motherhood.
