Summer is here and that means for most of us we want to drop a few pounds to look a little better in our summer clothes and sport that cute bathing suit again.  I find that when it come to weight loss it is all about changing habits and feeling better about myself.  I'm sharing five quick and easy weight loss tips to get you off to a great start dropping a few pounds before summer!

Tip # 1: Take off five pounds quickly!

To get yourself off to the perfect start I find that dropping the first five pounds can be pretty easy with a simple cleanse.  For a week cut out breads and pastas the best you can while increasing your water intake and eating more raw vegetables and salads.  This will not only help you drop a few stubborn pounds but get you started eating healthier and feeling more energetic.

Tip # 2: Lose weight without dieting!

Exercise is the key!  Just 30 minutes of moderate exercise per day will burn calories, increase your metabolism and lower your risk of diabetes.  A few simple things you can do are:

  • A moderate pace walk for 30 minutes (about 1 mile)
  • 30 minutes of dancing
  • Playing tag with the kids
  • Gardening and yard work (pushing the lawnmower)
  • Washing your car by hand
  • Household chores – vacuuming, laundry, washing floors
  • 30 minutes of Yoga

Tip # 3: Never skip breakfast!

When making healthier choices never skip breakfast it is the most important meal of the day.  By eating a simple meal of whole grain cereal with fresh berries you'll get the sugar your body craves, carbs to keep you going and have less cravings later in the day.

Tip # 4: Take a high quality multivitamin every day.

Making sure your body is receiving the essentials it needs is sometimes hard to do through food only.  By adding a multivitamin to your daily routine you can easily meet your minimum recommended daily requirements for vitamins and minerals that are essential to a healthy lifestyle.  Don't forget about basking in the sun for at least 10 minutes a day to get your vitamin D intake!

Tip # 5: Eat your veggies – especially your lettuce.
