Bert & Bratt – What’s In My Diaper Bag

5

I'm excited to bring you another fun post of What's In My Diaper Bag!  This time I am focusing on sterilization and keeping things simple without harsh chemicals and can be done while on the go!  I can't tell you how many times we've dropped a soother on the ground while shopping, traveling or just out for a walk and thought, does the 5 second rule apply?  Because really, what am I going to do in the middle of the airport with nothing to clean the soother other then sucking on it myself or using hand sanitizer – both solutions do NOT work for me.  Luckily Bert & Bratt have the perfect solution!

Bert & Bratt – What's In My Diaper Bag

So what exactly is Bert & Bratt and how can it help me avoid sticking a germ filled soother in my mouth?

Bert&Bratt Innovations Inc. was created by two Canadian mothers who needed a more practical solution to keeping their families healthy.  They imagined a device where they could properly sterilize items wherever their busy lives took them; shopping, driving, at a hockey arena or movie theatre with just the push of a button. And trust me you're going to want to get one for yourself it is so simple to use and cute!  I had no idea sterilization of soothers, nipples, sippy cup lids could be as easy as a push of a button which means no more worries while you're out and about or at home!! How exciting is that.

Bert&Bratt products have a small UVGI light that kills germs using a dual-action process. The oxygen in the air reacts with a range of 254 nm wavelengths creating ozone to safely eliminate up to 99.9% of germs and bacteria. The only by-product of this process is oxygen, leaving the pacifier without any residue or harmful bacteria. Simply push and hold button until light flashes.  When flashing has stopped, sterilization has occurred. It breaks down bacteria and exposes the DNA/RNA, quickly destroying the cell.

So just exactly how does the sterilization of Bert & Bratt work?

how does bert & bratt work

I'm not a scientist by any means but the process is pretty simple and similar to the hospital sterilization techniques they use to remove germs from equipment and germs from water and air.  Crazy I know but UV light is simple and effective!  All it takes it 4 minutes and you're ready to go.  I even keep the backup soother in the Bert & Bratt so I know its ready to go when I need it!  All you have to do is remove the sterilized one form the machine and insert the one to be sterilized, push the button and throw it back into your diaper bag!

Did Bert & Bratt make it into my diaper bag?

YES, it did!  I might even have it in my purse at times!  All I can say is for all you new parents out there this is something you want to have on hand, it will save you from that “does the 5 second rule apply” question.  Because really do we want to stick the dirty soother in our mouths, nope probably not.  AND we get to support local Canadian Mom's by purchasing this innovative product.  My daughter just loves using it to clean her brothers nighttime soother, we were going to make a video but haven't got around to it yet so take a peek at the one they've made for you all:

I have added the Bert & Bratt to my list of gifts for new Mom's!  I am always on the lookout for innovative products and cute things to get new parents that they either won't buy for themselves, don't know about or maybe can't afford.  I recently paired this with some newborn diapers and a cute pair of baby Reeboks for a girlfriend and she loved it!  Everyone at the baby shower did actually.  The best part is it holds the PTPA seal of approval so it is a product I highly recommend as well as other parents!

So where can you buy it?

Bert & Bratt have listed numerous retailers that carry it, Best Buy Canada, Future Shop and [amazon_link id=”B00DYEAKOK” target=”_blank” container=”” container_class=”” ]Amazon[/amazon_link] are all great places to grab one for yourself or to make an amazing gift!  But something even more exciting is they've been kind enough to let me give one away to all you amazing readers!
